How to Book a Commission

Step 1: Pick your photos

I work from photographs. The more photos I get, the better. This way, it gives me an idea of the subject in a 3D perspective and the character of the subject tends to show better. However, if you only have one picture, I can often work from that as well. Please note that I might refuse a commission if the photographs are not good reference enough for a good drawing (blurry, too far, not enough light contrast, etc.). If you live in Northern Colorado, for a fee, I can also go take pictures of the subject and get better acquainted.

Step 2: Pick your size and portrait type

The next step is to agree on the size and type of portrait (head, half body, full). During this step you should also decide on the type of background as well as any other detail that is important to you (a favorite toy, a name tag on a collar or halter etc.). At this point you may also decide whether or not you want me to provide a mat and frame.

Step 3: Commission Contract

Next I will send you a commission contract. The commission contract includes the specifications of the drawing, copyright, time frame, delivery, etc.
In order to secure the specified estimated date of completion in my schedule and for any work to begin, including work on the draft, an initial deposit of 25% of the total price of the commission is required as proof of acceptance of the contract (as well as a written consent by email). You will have 10 days to send the consent and the deposit.
I can take payments through Paypal or Venmo, money orders or check. If you want to pay via Paypal or Venmo, an extra $10.00 will be added to cover the administrative costs. Once I receive the deposit and confirmation email, I will start the drawing.
Once the work is done, you pay the remaining 75% and the painting will be delivered as previously agreed.

If you are not satisfied with the painting, I will keep the art and the initial 25% deposit but there will be no further obligation on your part.

You may at any time check in with me via email if you wish to receive an update on your drawing. I'm happy to send photos.
